SLING BAGS
Barb originally purchased 2 sewing machines which she has setup in her home in Uganda. She brings the ladies into her home to learn. They are making hand bags which Barbara, along with the help of friends and supporters who have the same vision, sell in the States. She has purchased an additional 2 sewing machines and now has a seperate sewing room. Barb also works with the women to learn to manage their finances. She teaches them about saving part of their earnings to pay for larger cost items such as repairs to their homes.
BEADED NECKLACES
Barb met Betty selling her beautiful beaded necklaces on the street. Betty makes these necklaces by reusing old colorful magazines. She and her family work together making the beads. They cut strips of paper which they rollup into beads. These beads are shellacked and strung into necklaces. Barb has helped Betty by purchasing these beads and re-selling them for her. She also purchased her a paper cutter. Betty’s son is seen in the corner using the paper cutter.
